How studies work in the engineering cycleโ€‹

Organization by specialtiesโ€‹

In 3A, you will choose your engineering specialty from those offered at INSA HdF.

Types of coursesโ€‹

The teaching system consists of 3 types of courses:

CM - Lecturesโ€‹

  • Theoretical courses in lecture halls
  • Presentation of fundamental concepts
  • Note-taking recommended

TD - Tutorialsโ€‹

  • Practical exercises in small groups
  • Applying theory in practice
  • Interaction with the teacher

TP - Practical Workโ€‹

  • Important: Labs are graded!
  • Handling equipment and software
  • Working in pairs or alone
  • Reports to submit

Evaluation systemโ€‹

Examsโ€‹

  • 4 exams per year (2 per semester)
  • Written exams, usually 1.5-2 hours
  • Schedule communicated during the period

Module systemโ€‹

  • Subjects in the same field are grouped into modules
  • You must pass each module with an average โ‰ฅ 10/20
  • Semester validated = All modules passed
  • Possible compensation between subjects within the same module

Tips according to your backgroundโ€‹

If you come from CPGEโ€‹

Be careful not to relax too much!

Even if the workload will be less than in prep school, INSA is still demanding:

  • Work is more spread out over time
  • More free time for leisure
  • But you still need regularity
  • Labs and projects require time
  • Don't underestimate the exams

Tip: Find your new rhythm gradually!

If you come from INSA prepโ€‹

  • Don't relax either! (continuity from prep)

Social and friendly lifeโ€‹

Making friendsโ€‹

  • Take part in integration events organized by the BDE
  • Join associations that interest you
  • Don't hesitate to suggest activities to your classmates
  • Group projects are a great way to bond

Study/leisure balanceโ€‹

  • More free time than in prep = opportunities to go out!
  • Student parties organized regularly
  • Sports activities with the BDS
  • Cultural events with the BDA

BDE List - If you want to get involvedโ€‹

Want to join the BDE?โ€‹

If you want to join the Student Office (BDE), hereโ€™s what you need to know:

Important timelineโ€‹

  • BDE elections: End of 3rd year (April/May)
  • List formation: From the start of 3A (September/October)

"Secret" processโ€‹

  • Lists are formed discreetly at the start of the year
  • You must not talk about it to other years (important rule!)
  • Discussions are only between 3A students

How to go about it?โ€‹

  • Get closer to friends who share your motivation
  • Identify people interested in student involvement
  • Start thinking about the projects youโ€™d like to carry out
  • Observe how the current BDE works to understand the stakes

Desired profilesโ€‹

A balanced BDE list needs:

  • Event organizers (Evenings team)
  • Creatives (Communication team)
  • Athletes (BDS)
  • Artists (BDA)
  • Managers (Treasurer, Secretary)
